Saxophone techniques are based upon classical training.
Piano
...Piano students generally move on to voice or saxophone, participating in bands, choirs and orchestras. Many students go on to play in school jazz bands, or perform with praise groups at church.
Piano lessons cover all the basics with classically based training in keys/scales, rhythm, form, and theory but also branching out into other genres of music.

MISSED LESSONS & RESCHEDULING LESSONS
- PLAN AHEAD:
- If you know ahead of time you will be missing a lesson please make all efforts to trade with another student or to work with Darin early on.
- EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED LESSONS:
- The day of lessons or the evening before: illness, bad weather, other emergencies are considered for rescheduling the missed lesson
- You may reschedule or utilize your Plus10
- Any unscheduled events with school, sports, etc. the day of the lesson are not considered excused absences; school music/theatre directors are often guilty of this
- Your previously mentioned Plus10 takes care of these unforeseen situations
- The day of lessons or the evening before: illness, bad weather, other emergencies are considered for rescheduling the missed lesson
- HOW TO RESCHEDULE:
- You can trade on the private studio page on Facebook, with other students.
- You can also use your Plus 10 as outlined earlier.
- If you have difficulty getting another student to trade, please contact Darin
- MUSICALS, SHOWS:
- If you are auditioning for a musical you will need to list your lesson time as a conflict.
- When it gets closer to the tech/dress rehearsals naturally lessons will need to be rescheduled.
- Students need to stay on top of communication with directors/stage managers for leaving rehearsal early for your scheduled lessons, or arriving later.
- The Studio will not make adjustments to accommodate students who do not list the lessons as a conflict. Theater directors should not request conflicts if they are not going to honor them. Muse Machine and several area high schools have been marvelous in making these concessions. If there are issues, parents should communicate with the director.
PLUS 10
- Each student will have an additional 10 minutes added to each lesson.
- The 10 minutes will be additional time allotted in case of future missed lessons rather than needing to make them up - The Studio is over 60 students and sometimes finding an open slot or someone with whom to trade is difficult.
- Example: four weeks of lessons the student will have accumulated 40 additional minutes - if the student is ill, you can elect to use your Plus 10 and miss that week, or trade with another student.
- It’s basically a security plan for any abruptly missed lessons.
5th WEEK
- 5th week -- if there are more than 4 lesson days (5 lesson days) in any month one (1) of those days will be taken off.
- Darin will let The Studio know which 5th-week days will be “off.”
- The invoice amount will always remain the same.
